GIS Data Conversion & Migration

"GIS Data Conversion (GIS data Migration) projects have comprised more than half of the 500+ projects that EI Technologies has completed over the past 30+ years."

Essential to the implementation of any enterprise GIS solution is high-quality data. If the data are bad, the decisions are bad.

Over the past 30 years, EI Technologies has developed proven data conversion and quality control processes that ensure that we deliver accurate and complete GIS data to our clients on time and on budget. Download PDF Brochure of our Data Conversion services.

We own and operate production facilities in multiple locations where we employ conversion technicians who have been in industry on average seven years. Our GIS conversion technicians use industry standard tools and techniques, and a seven-step conversion process that we have developed in house.

EI Technologies’ technicians convert source data into ESRI geodatabase, Intergraph GeoMedia, and other industry-standard data formats. Our technicians have converted large numbers of hardcopy maps, records, computer aided drafting and drawing (CAD), and legacy GIS data into spatial databases compliant with these formats.

To ensure that data delivered to your organization meet your specifications, our database experts will match the data to your data model. They will then load converted data into Oracle®, SQL Server®, Access® and other database engines using our customized tools and your specifications.

EI Technologies’ GIS analysts in our data QC facilities will then check the data for adherence to your accuracy specifications and compliance with your data models. Your data will be checked several times to verify the quality and completeness before delivery to your organization.

Of the more than 500 GIS projects that EI Technologies has completed over the past 30 years, more than half have involved data conversion or migration from CAD, legacy GIS formats, and hardcopy sources. Our data conversion/migration clients include the following agencies and organizations:

  • City of Longview, TX
  • WaterOne of Johnson County, KS
  • City of Oceanside, CA
  • Ector County Appraisal District, TX
  • JEA, Jacksonville, FL

Data Documentation

EI Technologies prepares metadata for all datasets submitted to our clients. Our metadata documentation meets Federal Geographic Data Committee standards. We will submit metadata to you in XML, Word, ASCII, or in a database. Our goal is to help your organization ensure that data delivered by EI Technologies can be immediately used and that users understand the purpose of each dataset.
